The synergy that FISSAC built with the INSIGHT project keeps going on.

INSIGHT published a “Key study based on current knowledge, skills and qualifications regarding industrial symbiosis“. During the collection of data, the FISSAC partners have been involved in filling a survey. The objective was to identify the needs and gaps regarding industrial symbiosis (IS) and to provide a complete analysis on skills, competences and knowledge in order to define a training path for developing the training material content.

By exploring existing training programmes in the field, the analysis also provides an overview of similitudes, priorities and possible gaps around existing trainings associated to IS. Then, the report explores further the needs and gaps regarding IS and provides an analysis on skills, competences and knowledge necessary to frame the emerging profile of IS facilitator. 30 successful cases studies and 60 interviews from relevant stakeholders (IS consultant, trainer, policy makers, researchers, business associations and enterprises) support the analysis, creating insights on the core dimensions of this new professional profile. Ultimately, the outcome of the report allows us to identify skills, competences and knowledge required to implement IS and supports us in defining a training path to develop training material content in the next phase of the Insight project.

In particular, the report mentions the “Vlaanderen Circulair” hub developed by OVAM, FISSAC partner, as a symbiosis tool in the Flanders region to accelerate the transition. Furthermore, the IS project management software of Simbiosy, project partner both in FISSAC and INSIGHT, has been analysed as case study among different supporting tools for IS initiatives.
